Frances Hashimoto, owner of Mikawaya confectioners in Los Angeles, is a successful Buddhist businesswoman.

 

   The Society for the Promotion of Buddhism (Bukkyo Dendo Kyokai) is airing “The Buddhist Way of Life” every Sunday at 6:30 p.m. on KXLA – Channel 44 (The channel may vary on cable companies).

 

    In October, the program focuses on vegetarian cuisine and on the relationship between business and Buddhism.   In the episode on October 7, Bishop Seicho Asahi of Koyasan Buddhist Temple in Los Angeles appears in the third part of Buddhist vegetarian cuisine.

 

   On October 14, Frances Hashimoto, owner of Mikawaya confectioners in Los Angeles is interviewed to examine the relationship between business and Buddhism. A successful businesswoman and owner of multiple shops of Japanese wagashi confectioneries, Hashimoto reflects on how she was raised as a Buddhist and of how the Buddhist tradition has served as the foundation of her business decisions.

  

  On October 21 and 28, Jeff Folick, Chairman and CEO of Bravo Health, an insurance company mainly for senior citizens, explains that he applies Buddha’s teaching to his business practices.
