Buddhist TV series on Sunday, 6:30 p.m.

 

 

Dr. Karma Lekshe Tsomo

   The Society for the Promotion of Buddhism (Bukkyo Dendo Kyokai) is airing “The Buddhist Way of Life” every Sunday at 6:30 p.m. on KXLA – Channel 44 (Your channel may vary depending on the type of TV service you have).

 

   In June, the program focuses on Dr. Karma Lekshe Tsomo of the University of San Diego, a Catholic university.  Originally born to a Southern Baptist family, Dr. Tsomo decided at the young age of 12 that she would become a Buddhist.  Dr. Tsomo spent time traveling and studying in Japan, as well as in much of South East Asia before settling into a teaching position at the university.

 

    In addition to her academic work, she is actively involved in interfaith dialogue and in grassroots initiatives for the empowerment of women.

 

    Through four episodes in June, Dr. Tsomo discusses a number of topics including social justice, women in Buddhism, and Life and Death.
