Mr. Toshihide Numata, center, eldest son of the founder of Buddhism study courses at 19 universities meets with professors of the program.
The Society for the Promotion of Buddhism (Bukkyo Dendo Kyokai) is airing “The Buddhist Way of Life” every Sunday at 6:30 p.m. on KXLA – Channel 44 – varying on the cable company.
In December, the programs focus on the Internet sermons and the 20th anniversary of the Numata Chair program.
In the episodes of “Lesson from Across the Sea” on Dec. 2 and 9, the internet sermons by Rev. Daigan Matsunaga in Hokkaido will be shown. Rev. Matsunaga talks with Buddhist members in Reno, Nevada regularly. The members respond to Rev. Matsunaga by e-mail. Even there is a physical distance across the ocean, the monk and members keep a personal connection.
In the episodes of “Numata Chair Program: the 20th Anniversary” on Dec. 16, 23, 30, the anniversary event in Berkeley, California on October will be aired. Late Dr. Yehan Numata, the founder of the Bukkyo Dendo Kyokai, had provided the fund to set Buddhism study courses at 19 universities in the U.S. and England. Dubbed as Numata Chair, professors under this programs gathered in Berkeley and met Mr. Toshihide Numata, eldest son of Dr. Yehan Numata.
